Grading
As with most styles of martial arts we operate a structured grading system. We hold a grading every 3 months. Students are graded not only by there performance on the grading day but are also continually being assessed on their class performance. The belt system is in place to help a student develop their skills. Our mission is to develop students into well rounded and competent martial artists. This can only be achieved through hard work and perseverance.

Unlike most martial arts schools we also include sparring, fitness testing and power measurements as part of the grading process. After all, as you progress so should your fitness and technique.

Anyone that has trained with us can tell you that belts are used as markers or a training tool if you like. The syllabus we use is the foundation of our style but is only a small part of the learning experience. Achieving a higher grade is very rewarding, however as I constantly stress to students their focus should not be on the destination, but on the journey.

Below is a guide to the belt system with a very brief description of some of the elements contained in each level.
